Imagery Concepts, Canon sponsor JA
Firm to provide free software systems to volunteers nationwide
Tulsa-based Imagery Concepts and Canon Computer Systems have
formed a philanthropic partnership sponsoring Junior Achievement's
National Volunteer Recognition Program.
To kick off the program, Canon is presenting a $97,500 check
to Junior Achievement (JA) to help fund the distribution of about
250,000 donated Imagery Concepts Home Organizer™ software
systems as gifts to JA volunteers nationwide.
The presentation will be held May 4 at the National Junior Achievement
headquarters in Colorado Springs, Colo. John Walsh, host of "America's
Most Wanted" and nationally recognized advocate of child
safety, will salute JA volunteers via a two-minute video presentation
prepared especially for the event.
Also, Imagery Concepts and Canon are working in conjunction
with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children
(NCMEC) to develop a network of software users with a direct
link to the NCMEC and law enforcement.
"This partnership not only assists the NCMEC in its efforts
to safeguard children, but also provides document scanning and
storage capabilities, which means that users would be able to
keep a current photos of their children on file at all times," said
Tom Quinn, Imagery Concepts president.
Imagery Concepts is the software development company behind
the Home Organizer™, a document imaging system for personal
use, and FILE•PIC™, a document-imaging system designed
to organizer small-to-medium-sized businesses.
Quinn, the mastermind behind Imagery Concept's corporate sponsorship
program, believes that fundraising is a key element to the process.
"Our purpose is twofold. First, to thank JA volunteers
for their hard work and dedication in educating students. Second,
to encourage the sale of FILE•PIC™ software, Imagery
Concepts makes a 20-percent donation to Junior Achievement, in
addition to contributions from our participating corporate sponsors,
their products and services, effectively creating an ongoing
source of revenue."
Other corporations who have partnered with Imagery Concepts
and Canon and Express Personnel Services and American Business
Forms. All have agreed to contribute a percentage of proceeds
for products and services obtained relating to FILE•PIC™ and
Junior Achievement,
Court Newkirk, president of Junior Achievement of Greater Oklahoma
City, Inc., said that JA will use the funds raised to provide
additional educational opportunities.
"Profits from the program will assist in the transfer of
this technology into the classroom, help fund new classes and
potentially reach tens-of-thousands of students," Newkirk
said. "That's icing on the cake."
Imagery Concepts and Canon also are partnering to help promote
internet and child safety through the MILK Program (managing
Information on Lost Kids), a brainchild of Quinn's. By distributing
software at no charge through the company's fund-raising efforts
with its corporate sponsors. Imagery Concepts aims to raise awareness
about safety issues on the Internet and child safety in general.
