St. Louis Zoo to hold Digital ID Event
Children can be photographed for personal safety purposes
Saturday, April 30, 2005
9 a.m. - 5 p.m. at Zoo entrances
St. Louis, Missouri (April 30, 2005) – Farmers Insurance
Group will host an m.i.l.k. Digital ID Event at the Zoo, part
of a national effort to provide parents with personal digital
safety IDs of their children in the event that their child becomes
lost or missing.
Parents can obtain free, standardized, high quality digital
images of their children along with a free copy of the Home Organizer/Kids
Owner's Manual software program ($39.95 retail value). The head-and-shoulder
image should be stored on the family's computer, along with the
vital statistics of the child, at the time the digital image
is taken.
According to the U.S. Department of Justice, over 2,000 children
are reported missing in our country each day. “We believe
that increasing awareness about missing children has never been
more critical,” said Ron Hendrix of Farmers Insurance.
One in seven missing children is found because of a photograph
distributed by the National Center for Missing and Exploited
Children (NCMEC), making a standardized, current photograph an
important tool in finding missing children.
m.i.l.k. Digital ID Events (managing information on lost kids)
have been hosted in local communities across the country by a
variety of organizations including police departments, retail
stores, health facilities and fraternal organizations.
